Establishment and Co-Chairs 成立時間與共同主席
The Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group (CASG) was established in May 2020. It brings together relevant Hong Kong bodies to coordinate work on green and sustainable finance.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) co-chair the group. Distinguish membership from leadership: the MPFA is a member, rather than a co-chair.
Three Areas of Work 三方面的工作
The group coordinates the management of climate and environmental risks affecting the financial sector and accelerates the growth of green and sustainable finance in Hong Kong. The first concerns risks facing the sector; the second concerns the development of financial activities.
The group also supports the Government's climate strategies. Candidates should therefore remember all three areas: coordinating risk management, developing finance and supporting climate strategies. Promoting green finance alone does not capture its full role.
Member Bodies 成員機構
The MPFA participates in the steering group. Its membership shows that the group brings in the MPF regulator, while its work extends across the financial sector.
Alongside the HKMA, SFC and MPFA, members include the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council, Environment and Ecology Bureau, Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, and Insurance Authority. Membership includes regulators, policy bureaux and a market institution.
